SpringPointe Development Inc. – Developer
SpringPointe is a Twin Cities-based, full-service property development
firm that specializes in identifying unused or underutilized industrial
sites and neighborhoods, and then purchasing and transforming the properties
for improved land use and the betterment of the community.

The
smokestack at Island Station is approx. 200 feet tall, 25 feet in diameter,
and constructed of riveted 6 gauge cold rolled steel. The stack is also
firebrick lined all the way to the top.
Flooring and stairs in the main structure of Island Station were produced by
Irving's Iron Works of New York. Irving's Iron Works opened its doors in New York
City in 1902 and its first steel grating products were designed and manufactured
in 1912 for use as sidewalk vents for the New York City Subway System. The new flooring
product was aptly termed "Subway Grating" and a new industry was born.
