HISTORICAL FACT

Coal Crusher Detail IllustrationThe Beaumont coal crusher sits on the 8th floor in the Southeast corner of Island Station’s main building. Before coal entered a coke oven, it was screened to 2 inches or less. Once sized in this step, different grades (types) were mixed and pulverized by the crusher to fit through a 1/8-inch screen. Island Station’s Crusher had 1.5 inch pyramid teeth and was built in Philadelphia.
